Hiring a Graphic Designer with excellent skills and creativity is one of the toughest jobs for a Grpahic design Company. This is the job where not only skills of the designer are required, but also you are required to match you mind with the designer. A designer should able to understand your concept and apply his creativity in that concept. Not every designer is able to do this! So you have to be careful in designer selection. You company` s success or failure mainly depend on a good Graphic Designer.


There are some points you should keep in mind always when hiring a designer:

How to search?

The most important phase of choosing a graphic designer is choosing a good advertising option. If you are publishing advertise in daily Magazine, only few of the graphic designers might apply. In contrast, publishing advertise on a jobs website is one best way. The reason is that the Graphic Designers are actually computer addicted. They always search on the web to find work.
Now a day another way to search a designer is giving a sample project on a freelance site. If your project went good with certain designer you can hire him permanently. This is all up to you that you want to keep working as a freelancer or want to hire him in your company.
Also if you have your official site that is so popular, you can make a section of Job into that. Whenever you are required any employee, simply publish advertise there.
Another way is to contact different universities. But through this process you cannot find an experienced designer.

What`s Next?

Now there are many people applied for the job. You have got their CVs. But this is true that people write more in their CVs. So finding what exactly they can do, you have to call them for an interview.  To save your time and resources for the interview choose only 20% out of CVs. Reject those CVs those have nothing to do with this job.

Know their Expectation

There are the chances that one you select has much more expectation. For example you are able to give him 20pounds/hr., while he wants to take 35pounds/hour. Remember to ask the candidate for his expected salary. Generally freelancers are less expensive. However, you should keep your budget elastic. Such as if a person have much experience, he is hard working and eligible for the job. If he insists for 22pounds/hr., while you were giving 2o, you should hire such an employee on 22pounds.

 Hire Local

Local hiring not just in case of designer, but also in case of other is helpful to grow up your business. This is noticed that locals can serve you in much better way. They will be able to work on less salary. In case of freelance work, local employee will be easy to contact and enquire. In case of legal matters, it would be easy for you to catch him.

Reference

Asking for the reference of candidate will help to make up trust. Hiring with reference of those, with whom he has worked will let you know about the candidate in more authentic way.

Avoid Friend

According to my experience, hiring a friend is not a good choice. You will not only loss your friendship, but you can also get a huge loss. A friend expects more from you, while you have to give equal rights to every employee. So this can bring a clash between you and your friend.

Documents and Portfolios Requirement

Remember to ask for the original files form candidate. Know that if there documents are authentic. Also it is a way to know personally about the candidate. If you have selected almost two candidates and you are confused to choose one out of them, you should spend some time on their portfolio.
Designer skills can be well exposed in his portfolio. Design of the portfolio will let you analyse his creativity.

After Hiring

Keep updating yourself (at least in the start of hiring) about what the designer is doing. Later on, you will not need this.  The trust and mind make up will built between you and your employee.
